Sergio Aguero recently stunned Manchester City

Sergio Aguero recently stunned Manchester City by claiming that he wants to leave the club at the end of his contract.

The striker’s existing deal runs out in the summer of 2018 and he has expressed his desire to return to Argentina. This comes as a major shock since City were expected to offer him a new long-term contract.

The former Atletico Madrid forward is regarded as the best in the world. His presence has been the single defining factor in City winning the league titles until now. Even though Aguero has come out with an open statement about his desire to leave, supposedly whilst out on a UK yacht charter, but City still believe that they can tie him to a long-term contract.

Even though it would mean keeping the player beyond his 30th birthday, City do not seem worried about this aspect. They have seen player like Yaya Touré start performing even after they hit their 30s. Aguero has been a great professional for the Manchester outfit even though the same cannot be said of his injury record. Aguero’s current contract ends after the World Cup 2018. The striker’s comments were made to a radio station, but City believe that the words were taken out of context.

Aguero came to the club in 2011 for a then transfer record fee of £ 38 million.“It’s clear to me that when my contract ends, after the World Cup [Russia 2018], I’m going to Independiente,” said the striker. After starting his career withIndependiente in 2003, Aguero went on to join Spanish outfit Atletico in 2006. He spent five years in Spain before joining City as a young and budding striker with a lot of promise. He has now transformed into one of the lethal forwards in the world. Aguero has scored 126 goals in 191 appearances for City.
