GO WINDWARD SOCCER!

Windward’s soccer teams are having outstanding seasons, and the Varsity teams are gearing up for the playoffs. A special pizza party on Tuesday, February 8 will launch the teams before playoffs.

On February 7, Boys Varsity Soccer was officially ranked #1 in CIF-Div. 6 for the first time in five years. Coach Nick Webster notes that “the team is young, hungry, and determined to create a lasting legacy.” With only one starting senior, the Wildcats have created a foundation that has set the tone for this season. Belief is the key word, and it runs throughout the team. Coach Webster believes a CIF title is a possibility: “The skill set is there, the commitment is in place, all that is required is a little luck at the right time, and history could be created by these fine young men.”

Girls Varsity Soccer is having one of its finest seasons, earning 2nd place in league standings. Seniors, Kit L, Danielle G. and Camille E. have led the team to a 9-4-1 overall record; 6-3-0 in league. The team has overcome adversity and looks to propel itself into playoffs at full strength. Coach Beto Dos Santos and the Girls Varsity Soccer seek the CIF Southern Section Division 4A Ford Championship. Coach says that “we’re looking really strong this year with a lot of good passing. Really looking forward to the playoffs.”

Temryss Lane and Tim O’Halloran lead the girls middle school squads this season. “The players are really disciplined and determined, and it shows on the field,” Temryss said. The Girls Royal Soccer team is the number two team in the PBL and will host New Roads in the opening round.

The Girls White Soccer team showed significant improvement over the course of the season but lost their opening round match up against Wildwood. Boys Royal Soccer is the number three seed in the west division of the PBL and will face Crossroads in the opening round. The Boys White Soccer team is ranked number five in the west and will travel to Westside Neighborhood School to open the PBL playoffs.

Good luck, Windward Soccer!
