AGUERO BENCHED FOR EVERTON CLASH

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was an unused substitute as the Premier League table toppers extended their lead at the top of the table with an excellent away win over Everton on Merseyside. Sergio Aguero stayed on the bench for the entire duration of the game as Everton fought gamely but were outclassed by a superior opponent in Manchester City.

The Premier League leaders were able to extend their long winning streak with a 3-1 win over the Toffees at Goodison Park. Manchester City had won their last 15 games in all competitions since the disappointing 1-1 draw at home to struggling West Brom in December. That game proved to be the last one for West Brommanager SlavenBilic, who was sacked despite the good result and was replaced by current Baggies boss Sam Allardyce.

Manchester City struggled to create clear goalscoring opportunities against Everton in the first half of the outstanding league game on Wednesday night. England international Phil Foden gave Manchester City the lead with a very good strike in the first half before Brazilian player Richarlisonequalised for the hosts to ensure that the two teams went into the break on level terms. Manchester City winger RiyadMahrez produced a real moment of quality to give his team the lead before an identical goal from Bernardo Silva wrapped up the 3-1 win for the Citizens. Sergio Aguero was left on the bench by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola as he continues to battle his way back from Covid-19. The Argentine international has not played for Manchester City in 2021 as a result. Manchester City are chasing glory in four competitions this season and fans of the club would hoping that Sergio Aguero can regain full fitness soonest to contribute to the quadruple dreams this season in what could be his last season at the club. His Manchester City deal expires in the summer.
