Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that star striker Sergio Aguero will be unavailable

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that star striker Sergio Aguero will be unavailable for the match against Bournemouth.

This would represent an opportunity for the likes of Wilfried Bony to step up to the plate. The Ivory Coast international has been starved of first-team opportunities since joining City in a £ 30 million deal last January. It has been partly because of the impeccable form shown by Aguero, who only recently scored five goals in a game. However, injury crisis has once again hit the striker after he was stretchered off during the recent international break.

This injury is likely to keep him out for a couple of weeks. This will not be a problem for Pellegrini against Bournemouth, but it could come to bite him for the upcoming game against archrivals Manchester United. Both Manchester clubs are once again fighting for a position at the top of the table. This clash could be very crucial in determining the outcome of the fight. City will want to be at full strength for this match at Old Trafford. Apart from domestic responsibilities, Pellegrini will also have to put together a team for the Champions League with Sevilla the next opponents for the Premier League outfit.

“Agüero has a muscle injury and I don’t think he will be back inside a month, and Silva came back from international duty with a kick on the ankle. Like Aleksandar Kolarov, he could be out for two weeks. Bournemouth have had two week to prepare for this game, and they have the advantage of working with their whole squad over that period. Wilfried has been unlucky since he joined the club, we know he is a very good striker but he has not been able to show it,” said Pellegrini about the upcoming game against Bournemouth.
